Established in 1984 under the visionary aegis of the Gautam International Pratisthan, Buddha Institute of Dental Sciences & Hospital (BIDSH) was founded to address the critical shortage of specialized oral healthcare and quality medical education in Eastern India. From a humble beginning with a mission inspired by the values of Lord Gautam Buddha, the institution has grown into a premier medical hub. Over the past forty years, BIDSH has transformed dental academics in Bihar by continuously integrating modern infrastructure, receiving prestigious regulatory recognitions, and producing thousands of accomplished dental clinicians and experts who serve patients globally today.
The institution was established by the "Gautam International Pratisthan" as the first premier private dental college in Bihar to bridge the gap in affordable, high-quality oral healthcare services while nurturing young talent in medical sciences.
BIDSH completed a glorious milestone of 25 years. The Silver Jubilee celebrated decades of academic excellence, continuous community medical camps, and an ever-expanding alumni network of highly competent professionals serving globally.
The institution achieved full recognition from the Dental Council of India (DCI) and Ministry of Health & Family Welfare. Expanding its academic horizons, the college established a highly sought-after BDS program (100 seats) and MDS postgraduate degrees (39 seats) across all 9 specialized dental branches, officially affiliated with Bihar University of Health Sciences (BUHS), Patna.
Recognizing the urgent demand for skilled dental technicians and support staff in Bihar, the institute diversified its curriculum by launching 2-year technical diploma courses in Dental Mechanic, Dental Hygienist, and Dental Operating Room Assistant (DORA).
BIDSH underwent a massive technological upgrade by installing top-of-the-line pre-clinical 100-workstation Phantom Head labs, full-fledged in-house advanced diagnostic systems like CBCT, advanced research wings, and fully digital classrooms to align with modern international medical education standards.
